Restoring Prosperity

Most Ohio cities are struggling for economic health and quality of life. An important partnership between the Brookings Institution and Greater Ohio has produced a report and programming initiatives for cities in Ohio. Build Wealth, Not Debt

The Columbus Saves program, started by the Franklin County office of OSU Extension, enrolled 467 new savers in 2006. The top three goals for Columbus Savers are Savings/Investment (20 percent); Emergency Funds (14.3 percent); and Retirement (11.3 percent). In October 2006, coins totaling nearly $15,000 were rolled during the Columbus Roll Your Change Week at five downtown business locations.
