Panhandling Discussion Event

Many of you have probably encountered panhandlers along High St. USG is hosting an event in conjunction with F.Y.E dedicated to addressing aggressive panhandling. The event will be a good way to learn about how to deal with panhandlers as well as how to help the situation of homelessness. City officials will be speaking at the event including Erika Jones, Director of Homeless Advocacy, and Council member Andrew Ginther. There will also be a former homeless person there to speak about panhandling from his perspective. The Panhandling Discussion is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18th at 5:30pm in Jennings Hall 0040. If you are a freshmen and have yet to complete your F.Y.E speaking series, this event will count towards your required events. So if you still need to complete your series or if you are just interested in panhandling - which is an extremely relevant and important topic within the city government - please attend!

Are you interested in helping better academic advising at Ohio State? And if not…do you want $10?

Undergraduate Student Government is holding focus groups with students to see how academic advising can be improved. We will be holding four 90-minute sessions around campus next week to hear about students’ experiences with advising and what specific problems they have encountered. Participants will receive a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card for their time, and refreshments will be provided.

There are four possible sessions:

  • Monday, November 16, 5 pm to 6:30 pm @ Siebert Hall Glass Lounge on South Campus
  • Tuesday, November 17, 9:30 am to 11 am @ University Hall 0074
  • Wednesday, November 18, 5:30 pm to 7 pm @ Morrill Tower, Browsing Room (3rd floor Lobby)
  • Thursday, November 19, 5 pm to 6:30 pm @ Hagerty Hall 045

If you are interested in attending, please e-mail John Tannous at tannous.2@osu.edu so we can make sure to have enough gift cards and can send you a reminder! Please include your name, major (and college, if you know it), cell phone number, and which session you'd like to attend.
