Cultural Literacy and Teamwork

Over 50 teens and adult mentors from a six-county area, including Warren County, participated in the Third Annual Teamwork and Cultural Literacy for Teens Program (TCLT) over a six month period. A Cultural Literacy Camp was held at 4-H Camp Clifton, where previous TCLT teens were observed teaching programs to other youth, which demonstrated their leadership and cross-cultural skills. The Camp exposed participants to the variety of 4-H International programs available, and provided teambuilding and cultural learning experiences. An extended learning experience was offered to 23 youth and 4 adults to participate in the Global Village program in Howell, Michigan. Program participants reported increased knowledge regarding other Ohio 4-H International experiences. Finally, participants reported gains in interpersonal skills that will help prepare them for success in the 21^st century workplace.
