The EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) in Summit County served 1,574 limited income parents in the year 2006, teaching a wide range of nutrition topics from Food Safety to Making Meals from What is On Hand. 306 of these parents completed 12 basic nutrition / cooking lessons to graduate.
All parents learned ways to cook healthy meals while budgeting food dollars. They planned healthy menus within their budget. This program has had a positive effect on the well-being of their families.
2,576 limited income youth participated in nutrition activities through EFNEP. The participants experimented with healthy snack ideas, and tried new fitness activities that could be incorporated into their daily lives and that of their families.
