Learning Work Connection

Learning Work Connection

Warren County Extension was a major partner and key leader in the Learning Work Connection project, designed to identify and address needs in the area of youth employment. Under the structure of the Family and Children First Council of Warren County, the project committee received a $9,400 Learning Work Connection grant to create a "Job Seeking Skills for Youth" tool kit. The tool kit handout was designed to aid youth in seeking employment as well as practical tools to keeping a job. It debuted at the Warren County Youth Career fair as part of a job skills seminar addressing over 100 youth participants from 6 school districts. This year long project brought together partners from over 8 different community agencies and local schools. Over 1,000 tool kits were distributed to youth throughout the county.

Warren County Extension provided nearly 300 citizens at Warren County Workforce One with sessions on:

  • Money and Technology
  • Basic Investing
  • Needs and Wants
  • Budgeting and Impulsive Spending

Nearly 200 Ohio Works First clients were challenged to explore their personal goals, develop employability skills and obtain a job in a career field of their choice. Lessons included topics on:

  • Personal Values Exploration
  • Nutrition
  • Consumerism
  • Communication Skills
  • Career Clothing, Care and Choices
